19th-Annual Western Conference on Tax Exempt Organizations
Loyola Law School held its 19th-annual Western Conference on Tax Exempt Organizations with a schedule that featured panels led by some of the country’s top tax-law experts. This program ran Thursday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 20 at the L.A. Hotel Downtown, and allowed attendees to hear sessions on tax developments of critical importance to charities and other nonprofit organizations. The program featured an array of prominent tax-exemption experts, including Professor Ellen Aprill, a WCTEO founder and the John E. Anderson Chair in Tax Law at Loyola Law School Los Angeles. Other panelists included officials from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS, plus a variety of prominent West Coast tax lawyers.
"The WCTEO included discussion by government officials and practitioners on donations to limited liability companies, proposed regulations easing certain private foundation operations, investment issues, and use of alternative dispute resolution by exempt organizations," says Aprill.
