500 Alumni & Friends Reconnect on Campus for LLS Reunions
Nearly 500 alumni from 10 class years and their guests celebrated milestone anniversaries during an evening of reconnecting and reminiscing on Loyola’s Gehry- designed downtown Los Angeles campus on Saturday, June 3, 2017. The event brought back members of the classes of 1967, ’72, ’77, ’82, ’87, ’92, ’97, 2002, ’07 and ’12 to the Esplanade to celebrate their time as students and their accomplishments since then.
The evening on campus began under a sunset-streaked sky with a warm welcome from Dean Michael Waterstone and Brian Kabateck, founding partner, Kabateck Brown Kellner, LLP, who leads Loyola’s Board of Directors. With the Dean’s encouragement, alumni mingled and ate, reminiscing after some time away.
“People were happy to chat about work, what was going on with their personal life, or just overall reconnect,” says Nicholas J. Mireles ’12, staff attorney, D’Alessio Law Group and a Reunion Committee Class of 2012 chairperson. “Law school is about survival, so seeing everyone not only surviving but excelling was really inspiring.”
Benefactors from milestone class years were recognized on signs scattered around the Esplanade. While alumni started the evening in an area labeled with their class year, most made their way through the crowd, chatting and enjoying the evening..
“In addition to catching up with classmates, meeting alumni of generations past gave a glimpse into the strong alumni network and continuing friendships that the future holds for our class,” says Shant Karnikian ’12, attorney, Kabateck Brown Kellner, LLP and Reunion Committee member.
