Amy Dao, RISE Clinic

As a student in the RISE Clinic, Amy Dao worked tirelessly on behalf of a survivor of sexual assault and provided comprehensive legal services to her client in the criminal, civil and immigration systems. Amy advocated with law enforcement to make sure the criminal case was properly filed, and filed a U-visa because her client’s immigration status had expired.  In addition, she was able to analyze her client’s situation in light of the issues covered in the clinic throughout the semester, and prepared an assessment of her client’s civil legal needs to place the client with a pro bono attorney for ongoing representation for damages against her abuser and employer – all in one semester!  She also helped two clients of child sex trafficking file for $20,000 payments each from the crime victims fund.
