The Hon. Wesley L. Hsu, United States District Court judge for the Central District of California, will address LMU Loyola Law School graduates on Sunday, May 19.
Nominated to the bench by President Joseph Biden, Judge Hsu was confirmed in May 2023. A former Los Angeles County Superior Court judge, Hsu served as deputy U.S. attorney for California’s Central District, supervising various divisions of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Los Angeles, and was executive assistant U.S. attorney on matters related to the administration and operation of the office. Judge Hsu was a member of LMU Loyola Law School's advisory group for its Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Concentration – the first of its kind in the nation – while serving as an adjunct professor at the school.
The Daily Journal named Hsu one of the “Top 100 Lawyers in California” in 2015, and he earned the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s recognition in 2005 as one of the “Best Lawyers Under 40.” His career has been the subject of media coverage in Forbes and GQ, as well as on Good Morning America and the CBS Evening News.
