Commencement Ceremony 

  • Please note the following times (approximate and subject to change):

    • 10 a.m.: Graduate check-in begins at Peacock Theater 
    • 11 a.m.: Stadium doors open for guests. All graduates lineup for the procession 
    • 12 p.m.: Commencement program begins 
    • 2:00 p.m.: Commencement program concludes

    Note: Doors 4-9 will close from 11:40 a.m.-12:15 p.m. to allow for preparing the graduates to process. Doors 1-3 will remain open. All guests that enter starting at 11:40 a.m. will be sent to the Loge Level until after the graduates are seated at approximately 12:15 p.m.

    Graduates and their guests are encouraged to arrive earlier than necessary in anticipation of other traffic in downtown L.A. related to sporting and other events in the area.

  • Guests must present a tickets for entry into LMU Loyola Law School's 2024 Commencement ceremony to be held on Sunday, May 19 at Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

    As was announced on Feb. 2, 2024, Peacock Theater has a seating capacity that is approximately double that of prior LLS commencements held at LMU's Westchester campus. We anticipates that all reasonable requests for tickets will be granted.

    On April 24, graduates received an email to reserve guest tickets. Tickets will be required for all guests older than the age of 2 to attend, with each graduate being offered up to 10 tickets, with an option to request additional tickets. For planning purposes, we ask that graduates reserve only the tickets they think they will need for the big day. The ticket portal will close on May 5, at which time additional tickets will be made available based on requests received. If you did not receive the April 24 email, please contact registrar@lls.edu.

    Children 2 years old and under do not need a ticket to attend. Please note that strollers are not permitted inside the theater.

  • No, LLS graduates are required to present their LLS ID card or government-issued ID, name card, and regalia to enter the Peacock Theater.

    Starting April 29, name cards will be issued when regalia is picked up in the bookstore. If you selected the ship to home option, you may pick up your name card in the bookstore. 

  • Each graduating student is initially allowed a maximum of 10 guest tickets for Commencement to ensure that all students have an opportunity to claim tickets during the process. The ticket portal will close on May 5. During the week of May 6 we will communicate with students via their LLS email account regarding the process for obtaining additional tickets through the AXS website. All tickets are complimentary and do not require a fee.

    We have been able to honor all requests for extra tickets. The deadline to claim tickets via the AXS portal is 4:30 p.m. PT on Wednesday, May 15. 

    1. Click the transfer button next to the event in your AXS account. 
    2. Select the tickets to transfer and enter the recipient's info. 
    3. On the review page, click the transfer button to send the tickets. 
    4. The recipient will get an email about the transfer, and they'll need to create an AXS account (if they don't have one yet) to complete the transfer. After that, the tickets will be theirs to use with the AXS app. 
  • No, tickets will need to be shown via the AXS app.

  • Graduates will be able to enter Peacock Theater through doors 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 19. LLS graduates are required to present their LLS ID card or government-issued ID, name card, and regalia to enter the Peacock Theater. Graduates will be required to present their name card to enter Peacock Theater.  Graduates should proceed to the lower-level staging area upon arrival at the venue.

    • All graduates and their guests will be required to pass through a security checkpoint before entering Peacock Theater. Please be sure to allow yourself sufficient time to go through the necessary security screening. All guests will be required to present their guest ticket via the AXS app, and all graduates will be required to present their name card. 
    • In an effort to provide a more secure and safe environment for all guests and staff, the following clear bag policy is in effect. All backpacks and bags that do not comply with the following are prohibited: 
      • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches. 
    • Prohibited Items: 
      • Non-clear backpacks/bags and backpacks/bags larger than 12" x 6" x 12" 
      • Hard-sided containers or coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags, camera bags and large traditional seat cushions that have pockets 
      • Food, beverage, alcohol, glass, cans, aluminum bottles, or thermoses of any kind 
      • Laser pens/pointers 
      • Laptop computers, tablet computers, 2-way radios, laser pointers, flashlights 
      • Umbrellas 
      • Firearms, knives, or weapons of any kind 
      • Aerosol cans (e.g., mace, pepper spray, hairspray, etc.) 
      • Illegal drugs or substances 
      • Signs, banners, or posters 
      • Staffs, selfie sticks, or flags on poles 
      • Pamphlets, product samples 
      • Strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, helmets, chairs, wheeled footwear, and hover boards 
      • Televisions 
      • Animals (except service animals to aid persons with disabilities) 
      • Air horns, whistles, cowbells, drums, or other distracting noisemakers 
      • Any devices that may interfere with and/or distract any event participant, other guests, audio or audio/visual telecast or recording of the event, or any technology-related service provided at the event 
      • Cameras: no flash/professional photography, tripods, monopods or selfie sticks 
      • Recording Devices: audio or video 
      • Projectiles (e.g., Frisbees, beach balls, footballs, etc) 
      • Flares, fireworks, Confetti or glitter 
      • Balloons, permanent markers, spray paint 
  • The LLS Commencement ceremony will be conducted live, in-person at downtown L.A.'s Peacock Theater. There will be no live-streaming option. 

  • Graduates should arrive at Commencement dressed in the official regalia for their degree. MLS candidates have black regalia. For doctoral-level candidates (JD and LLM), this is the customized LMU Red regalia with hooding.

    There will be no steamers available at the venue. Graduates are encouraged to unpack and hang their regalia as soon as received. In some cases, home ironing or steaming may be necessary to flatten wrinkles.
