Background

Before joining the faculty at Loyola in 2001, Mary Dant practiced for 11 years at the premier appellate firm, Horvitz & Levy, where she handled civil appeals in the areas of medical malpractice, insurance bad faith and employment litigation.  Prior that that she was an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where she did general business litigation. 

Public Service

Dant has worked as a volunteer attorney at Bet Tzedek Legal Services, handling social security appeals for indigent clients. 

Clinical Accomplishments

In addition to teaching, Dant supervises the Loyola Writing Tutors Program, which provides guidance and feedback to Loyola students who are preparing writing samples in connection with job, clerkship, and externship applications.  She has also presented Continuing Legal Education seminars in briefwriting and legal ethics for Bridgeport Seminars.
