Building partnerships at the national level to build strategy among advocacy, legal, academic and community leaders.

The Immigration and Disability Conference: Building Partnerships for a Just Future is a two-day conference on November 14-15, 2024, at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles hosted by The Coelho Center for Disability Law, Policy and Innovation.  “Building Partnerships for a Just Future” will bring together disability and immigration rights and justice leaders from across the nation to build partnerships and discuss advocacy, law and policy, service delivery and the future of our movements.  The conference also welcomes those who would like to learn more about the critical issues confronting disabled immigrants and refugees.

The two-day conference will feature keynote speakers, plenary sessions, breakout panels, roundtable discussions, and coalitional and networking opportunities.

To accommodate access needs, we will be offering a virtual option for the keynote and plenary sessions.  Registration required for in-person and virtual participation.

Conference Objectives

  • Identify and convene leaders working at the intersection of immigration and disability rights and justice, including self-advocates, community leaders, academics, litigators, policy professionals and policy makers.
  • Prioritize the voices of immigrants with disabilities with lived experience in conference planning and conference discussions.
  • Provide space for and generate discussion on top issue areas at the intersection of immigration and disability policy.
  • Set the foundation for and generate ideas for coalitional and collaborative efforts, policy strategy, and identification of research priorities.
  • Collect and disseminate shared resources and conference findings to assist in future efforts.
