Disability and Immigration Conference 2025

Save the Date!

Building partnerships at the national level to build strategy among advocacy, legal, academic and community leaders.

The Disability and Immigration Rights: Building Partnerships for a Just Future is a two-day conference on June 26-27, 2025, at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles hosted by The Coelho Center for Disability Law, Policy and Innovation.  “Building Partnerships for a Just Future” will bring together disability and immigration rights and justice leaders from across the nation to build partnerships and explore advocacy strategies, legal frameworks, service delivery, and the evolving landscape of our movements. It’s a space for collaboration and discussion on crucial issues impacting disabled immigrants and refugees.

The two-day conference will feature keynote speakers, plenary sessions, breakout panels, workshop sessions, and coalition and networking opportunities.

Vision

We envision a world in which disabled migrants and refugees in the United States are free from discrimination, their access needs are being met, and they valued members of our community.

Mission

Our mission is to convene and promote policy discussions, cultivate knowledge, share ideas and strategies, and advocate for the rights of disabled migrants and refugees.

Objectives

  • Identify and convene leaders working at the intersection of immigration and disability rights and justice, including self-advocates, community leaders, academics, litigators, policy professionals and policy makers.
  • Prioritize the voices of immigrants with disabilities with lived experience in conference planning and conference discussions.
  • Provide space for and generate discussion on top issue areas at the intersection of immigration and disability policy.
  • Set the foundation for and generate ideas for coalitional and collaborative efforts, policy strategy, and identification of research priorities.
  • Collect and disseminate shared resources and conference findings to assist in future efforts.
