The Career Development Office provides tailored career counseling for alums who have been out of law school for more than a year. Should you have questions about your job search, resume, career change, or any other career-related matter, contact the Career Development Office at (213) 736-1150 or at careerdevelopment@lls.edu to schedule an in-office or phone appointment with a career counselor. You may also contact our office with general questions.
Attorney Oath and Swearing-In
The Alumni Office hosts a Swearing-In Ceremony every June for Loyola Law School graduates who pass the February California bar exam and every December for graduates who pass the July California bar exam. Graduates are welcome to invite an unlimited number of family and friends to the ceremony and reception. Parking is free. The event requires business attire. Due to the number of attendees, the December ceremony takes place outdoors in an enclosed tent; we recommend graduates and guests dress warmly in the chance of cold weather. For questions contact the Alumni Office at alumni.office@lls.edu or call (213) 736-8153.
RSVP for the Swearing-In Ceremony via the Loyola Law School events calendar
- Remember to bring your State Bar oath card. The State Bar mailed this to you as part of your Bar packet. The law school will not have extra copies at the ceremony.
- If you forget your oath card, you are welcome to take the oath at the ceremony, but you will need to follow the directions in your Bar packet on how to get your oath card signed.
- If you lose your State Bar packet, you can pick up another packet at the State Bar of California, Office of Admissions.
- Being sworn in to the U.S. District Court is optional. Should you wish to take the federal oath, the law school will have hard copies of the form at the ceremony. However, you are responsible for completing the paperwork and sending it, with the appropriate fees, to the court.
If you are unable to attend the ceremony at Loyola Law School, your Bar packet will include a list of other locations where you can be sworn in. Additionally, you can be sworn in by other officials. There are notaries on the Loyola Law School campus who can swear in graduates for free. Please contact the law school at (213) 736-1000 to learn more.
