Core Requirements
The requirements for the Sports Law Specialization were developed by an advisory group of practitioners and academics, both alumni and friends of Loyola with the intent of preparing graduates to be exposed to the legal doctrines and skills necessary to be effective professionals. Please note, we are not recruiting for the Sports Law specialization for Fall 2022.
The MLS degree requires 24 total units of credit. The Sports Law Specialization will be recognized upon the satisfactory completion of 16 units of coursework in addition to the first-year Law & Process or Legal Methods course. This includes 11 units of required courses and 5 units of electives.
Required Courses
Successful completion of the following required courses:
- Contracts (5 units)
- Legal Issues in Sports Marketing (2 units)
- Sports Law I: Survey of Legal Issues (2 units)
- Sports Law II: Practical Application of Sports Law in Business (2 units)
Elective Courses
In addition to the required courses noted above, students in the Sports Law Specialization are encouraged to take the following additional courses to the extent their schedule permits:
- Advertising Law (2 units)
- Antitrust Law (3 units)
- Business Immigration Law (4 units)
- Entertainment Law (3 units)
- Fashion Law (3 units)
- International Sports Law (3 units)
- Labor Law, Alt-Labor, and the Gig Economy (3 units)
