Tika Thorton

Survivor Leader

Tika is an inspirational Los Angeles-based Survivor leader and TEDx Speaker dedicated to fighting for the eradication of human trafficking. She has co-created and overseen the TAY/Adult Crisis Response Team, where she has constructed bridges between service providers, law enforcement, and lived experience experts. Additionally, Tika mentors youth for CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) prevention and intervention with DCFS and juvenile probation. As a Core Team member of the Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force and an active California CSEC Advisory Board member, Tika has previously served as a board member of Qualified Academy (formerly Two Wings) and Long Beach GRIP. Moreover, she is a qualified trainer, having educated emergency service personnel, service providers, and community members on the best procedures for supporting individuals who have been victims of commercial sexual exploitation. Driven by the conviction that change starts with her, Tika is determined to make a difference.
