Dunia Zelaya
Survivor Advocate
Dunia Zelaya (she/her/ellas) is a survivor and community leader based in Los Angeles, CA. She uses her own experiences of familial trafficking and intimate partner violence to connect with others and advocate for change. As a certified drug and alcohol counselor and professional group facilitator for survivors of domestic violence, Dunia has spent many years helping others find stability and resilience in the face of adversity. Passionate about giving back to organizations that helped her during her recovery, Dunia is an organizer for Homeboy Industries, a member of Cast LA’s Resilient Voices, and Vice-President of the Alumni Association at Shields for Family. Dunia is now the Survivor Advocate with the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking, working to ensure the healthcare industry in Los Angeles provides survivors of trafficking with trauma-informed services.
