Daniel Barragan '21
Associate Attorney at Hanna, Brophy, MacLean, McAleer & Jensen, LLP
Daniel Barragan-Molina '21 was born in Zapopan, Jalisco in Mexico and brought to the United States at the age of eighteen months. He was raised in Inglewood, California.
As a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient, Barragan-Molina knows first-hand the obstacles faced by undocumented immigrants like his father, who was deported in 2014. Immigration advocacy has always been an important part of his personal, professional, and academic life, including volunteer work with Amnesty USA and the National Immigration Law Center in Los Angeles. As a student participating in the Loyola Immigrant Justice Clinic, he represented a client seeking asylum and a juvenile client seeking adjustment of status.
Despite being accepted to several 4-year universities, as an undocumented student Barragan-Molina did not receive federal financial aid. He therefore opted to attend El Camino Community College in Torrance, California, before transferring to California State University Long Beach. He graduated from CSULB in 2017 with a B.A. in Political Science and was accepted into the class of 2021 at Loyola Law School. While at LLS Barragan-Molina worked at the Coalition for the Abolishment of Slavery and Human Tracking (C.A.S.T.) helping survivors of human trafficking to apply for immigration status and restitution; at The Cochran Firm helping victims of catastrophic injuries in civil court; and at McCune, Wright and Arevalo helping to file class action lawsuits against major corporations.
Barragan-Molina was sworn in by the California Bar in December 2021. He currently works at Hanna, Brophy, MacLean, McAleer & Jensen, LLP, assisting clients with all aspects of workers’ compensation defense. Most recently, he was granted Advanced Parole to attend an international law and migration program at ITESO.
