Prof. Levenson to participate on Gideon anniversary panel
Professor Laurie Levenson will participate as a panelist for "Access to Justice 50 Years After Gideon." The event, organized by the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS), will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the historic case Gideon v. Wainwright, which resulted in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court criminal-procedure opinion providing that counsel must be provided by the state when a criminal defendant cannot afford his or her own attorney.
Panelists are asked to reflect on the case and its aftermath. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Joan Palevsky Center for the Future of Los Angeles located at 201-281 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA.
