Prof. Zimmerman discussed hot coffee suit against McDonald's on KPCC-FM
Associate Professor Adam Zimmerman provided commentary on tort reform since the Liebeck v. McDonald's case in 1994 and how it relates to a new suit filed by a Los Angeles woman against the fast food restaurant. The woman claims that hot coffee spilled on her due to an improperly secured lid when the drink was handed to her through a drive-through window. Zimmerman discussed the suit on KPCC-FM's AirTalk.
"It will depend on the facts and how a jury assesses how reasonable both the plaintiff was in handling the coffee and how McDonald's was handling the coffee and manufacture of the cup itself. I think it will lead to very different results from the original coffee case," said Zimmerman.
