Prof. Lazaroff quoted by Sporting News about National Hockey League labor negotiations

Professor Daniel Lazaroff was quoted in a story by Sporting News regarding the negotiations between the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service to end the National Hockey League lockout, explaining the purpose of the meeting and offering potential outcomes. In the story, he was quoted saying:

“The federal mediator is simply trying to get the collective bargaining process to move more productively. Of course, if they reach an agreement, there won’t be a need for decertification, but it does not preclude that option at all if a mediator cannot facilitate a new collective bargaining agreement. … This is simply part of the collective bargaining process. If it fails, then we get to the legal options—union decertification, unfair labor practice charges, or antitrust suits.”
