Reference
The Reference Desk, located just behind the Circulation Desk on the first floor, is regularly staffed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. During regular reference hours, assistance is also available by email, via the chat reference box on the bottom right of the Library's web pages, or by calling the Reference Desk at 213.736.1177.
Reference Librarians offer a variety of courses and activities to help you prepare for the demands of legal research in your future practice. During the Fall semester, reference librarians teach first year legal research and Foreign and International Legal Research. During Intersession, they offer a California-specific legal research course open to attorneys, students and other members of the legal community. In the Spring semester, they teach specialized research components in Concentration courses and Advanced Legal Research. Each February, the Reference department sponsors a Prepare to Practice workshop series specifically designed to help students with the demands of their summer associate positions.
Please contact the Reference Desk to speak with a librarian about legal research strategies and library resources available to help you.
