Timothy J. Wheeler '78
Managing Partner, Greene, Broillet, Panish & Wheeler
Timothy Wheeler attributes his getting into law school as 50 percent GPA success and 50 percent perseverance. It was late in the admissions game and Wheeler was the only one he knew who had not received a decision letter from Loyola. Having received nothing but rejection letters in the past month, he knew that he had to think fast.
With a couple of failed phone calls and interview requests, Wheeler decided on a more direct approach; he would drive to Loyola and speak with the dean of admissions himself. “He walked past me in the morning,” recalls Wheeler, who was later told that he had the lowest LSAT score in his class. “Lunch came and he went by me again. I didn’t quite capture his attention until after dark.” Eventually Wheeler was accepted and graduated with the highest grade in torts.
A “champion for underdogs,” he specializes in liability lawsuits. As the managing partner of Greene, Broillet, Panish & Wheeler, he has helped reach more than 50 verdicts and settlements in excess of one million dollars.
“I would have loved to be a rock musician though,” Wheeler says with some regret. He plays guitar in two bands. “But that gig didn’t work out very well. It’s a good thing this did!”
