2000 - 2009

2000

Marc S. Carlson departed from private practice and joined Experian Services Corp. in Costa Mesa, CA as in-house counsel.  Victor P. Danhi relocated from Los Angeles to Northern California with the opening of Arent Fox’s new office in San Francisco; Danhi is a partner representing national and regional automotive dealership clients in consumer class actions and complex litigation, federal and state regulatory matters. Ayelet B. Feiman was honored by the Anti-Defamation League at its annual luncheon and awards ceremony held at the Skirball Cultural Center; a deputy Los Angeles city attorney, Feiman received the Helene & Joseph Sherwood Prize Combating Hate for co-investigating and prosecuting a Northridge, CA anti-Semitism case.

2001

Raphael (Rafe) Emanuel formed Emanuel Law Office, where he practices entertainment and business law. In his spare time, Emanuel qualified for the 2014 Boston Marathon. Anne C. Goodwin was promoted from associate to partner with Squire Sanders LLP’s litigation practice group in the Los Angeles, CA office.  Elizabeth D. Le, an attorney with Robins Kaplan Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. joined the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) as senior counsel.

2002

David B. Lambert of Los Angeles-based commercial real estate and business law firm Gilchrist & Rutter PC was named partner. Lambert’s practice includes all aspects of transactional real estate, including acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, construction and development and real estate secured finance of office, data center, retail, and industrial properties. His experience includes extensive representation of both landlords and tenants in office, data center, retail, and industrial leases, and in lease workouts/restructurings. Lambert is also a registered civil engineer and worked as a civil engineer for ten years before beginning his legal career. 

2004

Kevin J. LaHue of Kay McLane Bednarski & Littmade the list in the 2013 Southern California Super Lawyers; LaHue specializes in criminal proceedings, from arrest to appeal in state and federal court.  Lynn A. Mastandrea, formerly of Gibbs Giden Locher Turner Senet & Wittbrodt, LLP, joined the Los Angeles office of Gensler, a global architecture, design, planning, and consulting firm; Matandrea serves as regional counsel for the southwest region. Jamal L. Tooson was recently promoted to deputy alternate public defender III in Los Angeles County; as such, Tooson has responsibility of representing the accused in complex criminal cases, ranging from homicide to felony drug sales and possession.  Jason T. Yu, for the fifth consecutive year, was named to the 2013 Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Stars; Yu practices business litigation, employment liability, intellectual property and transactional law.  

2005

William M. Karns of CheongDenove, Rowell, Bennett & Karns was named a 2013 Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star; Karns specializes in litigating major personal injury cases and business torts. Kristen J. Nesbit, an associate ofFisher & Phillips in Los Angeles, CA, was one of 100 attorneys selected by Lawyers of Color magazine for its inaugural list of minority, under-40 attorneys in the region; Nesbit’s practice focuses on employment litigation and client counseling.

2006

Katherine Macfarlane is a teaching fellow and assistant professor of professional practice at Louisiana State University Law Center in Baton Rouge, LA. Stephen J. Weerts (LL.M) was promoted within DLA Piper’s Los Angeles, CA office to law partner in the firm’s tax practice.

2007

Malaika Billups of Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLPmade the 2013 Nation’s Best Advocates: 40 Lawyers Under 40 listand honored at the National Bar Association’s annual convention in Miami, FL in July as a legal professional achieving prominence and distinction, both professionally and philanthropically. Emily L. Madueno, land use litigator and eminent domain expert, was promoted to partner at Murphy & Evertz in the firm’s office in Costa Mesa.  Kristine M. Noyes is an estate planning, trust administration and probate associate at Fiduciary Law Services, Inc. in Woodland Hills, CA.  Joshua P. Shelton co-founded Newport Criminal Defense in Newport Beach, CA; the firm specializes in misdemeanor, felony and federal criminal defense—Brian Bezonsky ’07 is also employed at the firm, as a senior attorney.  Boris Sorsher, a labor and employment attorney with Fisher & Phillips, was named in Southern California Super Lawyers list, Rising Stars.  Noah B. Steinsapir is a new associate with Mayer Brown LLP in Los Angeles, CA, practicing labor and employment and complex commercial litigation.  

2008

Anne Deedwania joined Guess? Inc. as corporate counsel and director of litigation.  Talia Shandling, an associate with Klinedinst PC, was named to a 2013 Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star; Shandling’s practice includes business litigation, employment law, professional liability, and retail and premises liability.

2009

Craig S. Weinstein is an associate with the private wealth services group at Holland & Knight in Los Angeles, CA, practicing trusts and estates litigation. Vatche Zetjian is an estate and trust litigation, planning, and administration associateat Fiduciary Law Services, Inc. in Woodland Hills, CA.
