1991
David C. Bolstad, real estate litigator, joined the newly renamed downtown Los Angeles law firm of Safarian Choi & Bolstad LLP as partner; prior to that, Bolstad was a partner at Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP.
Mark C. Goodman joined Hogan Lovells in San Francisco, CA as partner specializing in litigation and arbitration.
John M. Polson, an Irvine, CA-based partner at Fisher & Phillips LLP, was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2013; Polson practices labor and employment law.
1992
Sonia J. Ransom was named among the Los Angeles Daily Journal’s 2012 list of the “Top 30 Real Estate Attorneys”; Ransom specializes in land use and redevelopment at Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP.
Janna R. Sidley of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office was named general counsel for the Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s busiest port.
1993
Debra H. Suh, executive director of the Center for the Pacific Asian Family, was recognized by Alston & Bird LLP at its California Women of Distinction reception for leadership and achievement in the legal profession and in the community.
Molly M. White, commercial litigator, joined the Los Angeles office of McGuireWoods LLP as partner, practicing securities litigation, white collar criminal defense and SEC enforcement defense; White previously was senior trial counsel for the SEC.
1994
Craig D. Linder was named special counsel at Rasco, Klock, Perez, & Nieto, P.L. in Coral Gables, FL and leads the firm’s securities law practice.
1995
David M. Haugen, general counsel and chief patent counsel with Fox Factory was selected as a “2013 Best Bay Area Corporate Counsel” finalist in the category of intellectual property lawyer by The Silicon Valley Business Journal and the San Francisco Business Times.
J. Alexandra Rhim moved from Buchalter Nemer to Dykema Gossett PLLC; Rhim is senior counsel in Los Angeles and joins the firm’s bankruptcy practice group.
Nathan D. Wirtschafter, who runs law practices in California and in Israel, publishes the newsletter, Wirtschafter Law Reporter; Wirtschafter’s practice encompasses a broad range of business matters including civil lawsuits, collections and international litigation.
1996
Charles J. Harder is co-founder of the newly established law firm of Harder Mirell & Abrams LLP in Los Angeles and was named to the 2012 “Power Lawyers” list by The Hollywood Reporter.
Jeffrey Lewis formed a new partnership, Broedlow Lewis LLP, in Rolling Hills Estates, CA; the firm practices business litigation and appeals.
1997
Jennifer Laser joined Valle Makoff LLP in Los Angeles as a partner; Laser is a business litigator whose clients include a national grocery retailer, entertainment companies, real estate investors and other businesses and individuals.
1998
Todd A. Carper was promoted from senior manager to principal with Ernst & Young LLP in Irvine, CA, where he is a member of the firm’s indirect tax practice group.
Monica M. Quinn transitioned from partner at Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP to shareholder with Littler Mendelson PC; Quinn’s specialties are discrimination and harassment, hiring, performance management and termination.
1999
Laura M. Burson joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner with the Los Angeles office’s intellectual property practice group; Burson, a registered patent attorney and intellectual property litigation and counselor, previously practiced law with Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Rahul Ravipudi was promoted to partner with Panish Shea & Boyle LLP; Ravipudi represents plaintiffs in wrongful death, catastrophic personal injury and class action litigation.
Judiciary
The Hon. Jeanne E. Schechter ’90, most recently deputy city attorney for the city of Merced, CA, was sworn in as commissioner for the Superior Court of California, Merced County. Earlier in her legal career, Schechter worked for the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.
The Hon. Michael J. Shultz ’91 was appointed to the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. Schultz was serving as commissioner for the court; his previous assignments included clinical director of the Center for Juvenile Law and Policy at Loyola Law School, attorney for the California Appellate Project, and deputy public defender with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office.
The Hon. Joseph R. Porras ’98, until recently a deputy district attorney in the Hardcore Gang Division of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, was appointed to the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles.
