China Summer Program in Beijing
Program Costs
Tuition and Fees
Tuition for the program is $700 per credit, plus a $350 program fee to cover course materials, tours and social events. The $400 deposit, which must accompany the admission application, will be credited toward the cost of tuition.
Housing and Costs
Housing for the China Summer Program will be provided by the two hotels described below.
Loyola Law School reserves a block of rooms at the hotels based on our expected program
attendance. Students will be responsible for payment directly to the hotel by cash or credit card
when they arrive.
Cherry Blossom Yinghua Hotel is conveniently located across the street from UIBE. The Cherry Blossom will serve as the main housing for students during the program.
The cost of a single room at the Cherry Blossom is approximately $61.70 per day. The cost of a double room is approximately $28.19 per day, per person.
Since the Cherry Blossom will serve as the main housing, the majority of students participating in the program will stay here. It is strongly encouraged that students stay here as it is only a short walk from UIBE, where classes will be held, and an inexpensive option in comparison to the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Crowne Plaza Hotel Beijing Parkview Wuzhou is about a 15-30 minute taxi ride from UIBE. Students who wish to have more luxurious accommodation may choose to stay here.
Program participants may make room reservations here for approximately $184.80 a night(depending on the exchange rate at the time).
Alternate Housing
Program housing is recommended, but not required. Students may opt out of program housing and make their own housing arrangements. In these cases, students will be required to submit their housing information (address and telephone number) in writing (via email) to StudyAbroad@lls.edu.
Additional Costs
Travel
Travel arrangements (round-trip airfare between the U.S. and Beijing, China) are the responsibility of the student and are not included in the program cost. Students are encouraged to check the travel sections of local newspapers and travel web sites for discount airfares.
Meals
Students are responsible for their meals. There are many restaurants near the campus as well as a cafeteria and snack bar on the campus itself. Beijing has a vast number of excellent, reasonably priced restaurants where students can dine for $15 to $20 per day.
Internet & Cell Phones
Internet service is available at no additional charge at the Cherry Blossom Hotel. There are also internet cafes in the neighborhood surrounding the campus. Students will also have access to a computer lab on the UIBE campus.
Students with a cell phone using a GSM network can purchase a Chinese SIM card (although calls to the US are expensive). The cheapest way to stay in touch with home is to use email or a service like Skype.
Miscellaneous
Students should plan to bring a reasonable amount of money to cover personal expenses such as meals, souvenirs, local transportation, etc., and to provide a safety cushion for the unexpected. ATMs are available in the area surrounding the UIBE campus, and throughout the city.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid in the form of the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan (GPLUS) or private loans may be available. Students may borrow loan funds up to the cost of attendance (COA). The COA is determined by the Office of Financial Aid and includes tuition and fees, as well as an allowance for room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses. Under no circumstance can financial aid exceed this cost of attendance.
Summer is considered a separate term for financial aid awarding purposes. Financial aid awards for the summer term are not automatically processed based on prior eligibility or acceptance to the Beijing Summer Program. Students who wish to borrow a GPLUS Loan must complete a Summer Study Abroad application. LLS students should watch for announcements from the Office of Financial Aid concerning the summer study abroad aid and application deadlines.
Note: Federal laws do not allow loan funds to be disbursed earlier than 10 days prior to the start of the program. Tuition costs may be deferred pending receipt of summer aid. However, students must be prepared to pay for some expenses (such as airfare) out of pocket until their loan funds have been disbursed.
Brooklyn Law School students should contact Janet Solomon at 718.780.0356 or via email at Janet.Solomon@brooklaw.edu regarding summer financial aid requirements.

Consortium Agreements
Non Loyola Law School (LLS) students wishing to obtain financial aid for program costs must do so through their home institution. Students should contact the Office of Financial Aid at their home institution to begin the consortium agreement process. There are several requirements that must be met before financial aid can be awarded and disbursed via a consortium agreement. Thus, students are strongly encouraged to begin this process immediately after applying to the program.
Consortium agreement forms should be mailed or faxed to:
