Job Description Summary:

The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution provides facilitation, mediation and conciliation services, and conflict resolution training, to the communities in Los Angeles county, in particular to those adjacent to the Law School, which are mostly Spanish speaking. The Center also provides mediation and conciliation services to the courts and to administrative agencies, through its law school clinical Externship program. Services are provided in English and in Spanish. 

The Center is searching for two (2) Senior Conflict Resolution Associates/Mediators to join its team. Under the direction of the Associate Director and/or The Center For Conflict Resolution, the Senior Conflict Resolution Associate/Mediator will serve as a community mediator, conciliator, facilitator, intake person, conflict resolution trainer and community outreach coordinator.  Responsibilities will include but not limited to, preparation of bilingual materials, assisting in the preparation of contract reports, data entry, supervision of student workers, correspondence and specific projects as directed by the Associate Director and/or the Director.

Education:

Bachelor's degree required. Juris Doctorate and member of the California Bar required.

Experience:

Must have experience in mediation or conciliation (community mediation or conciliation experience is preferred); community outreach experience (non-profit community program which provides social or legal services to low income people is preferred); experience as a trainer (conflict resolution training experience with groups up to 100 persons is preferred); processing intake work (mediation or conciliation intake experience is preferred). Experience working with people who are upset (e.g., crying or angry) preferably in a community and/or court program.

Knowledge/Ability:

Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency required. Able to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and administrators, etc. Effectively interact with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and ethnic groups. Demonstrated commitment to community service. Effective interpersonal and communication skills to create successful partnerships with faculty, students, staff and external groups. Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral). Ability to analyze, assess, evaluate, identify problem and take initiative to resolve. Interpretation of applicable laws, policies and principles, etc. Ability to conduct training sessions and make presentations. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines, often with competing priorities. Keen attention to detail. Computer competency with Microsoft Office suite and other relevant technology. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
