The Centrum Hotel in Nicosia
Tthe Centrum Hotel is located in Eleftheria Square. This chic downtown hotel is friendly and discrete, located directly adjacent to the Municipal Hall, the General Post Office and major banks. It is steps away from the buffer zone, museums, art galleries and other cultural establishments, churches, shops and restaurants.
Single and double rooms are available. All rooms are fully air conditioned and equipped with a 20-inch color T.V., satellite channels, direct-dial phone, computer access points, hair-dryer, mini fridge and free coffee-making facilities. Non-smoking and disabled-access rooms are also available.
Breakfast will be included at the hotel and lunch will be provided at the University of Nicosia.
Tranportation to and from the Univeristy of Nicosia will also be provided.
Eastern Mediterranean University Dormitories
In Famagusta, participants will stay in student dormitories located on the E.M.U. campus. There is a broad range of accommodations for students.
Hotel-like accommodations are available in double bedrooms, with study desks, T.V., L.A.N. connection, refrigerator, A.C., bathroom with shower, etc.
Four-person occupancy, dormitory-style accommodations are also available. Four students share two bunk beds, one bathroom and shower, plus a communal room and kitchen for every 20 students.
Housing for men and women is separate.
Breakfast and lunch will be included.
Please note accomodations will NOT be provided for early arrivals or late departures.
University of Nicosia
University of Nicosia is the largest private university in Cyprus. Current enrollment is approximately 5,000 students, 4,000 of whom are based at the campus in Nicosia. The campus is located 4 miles west of the Old Town.
The University of Nicosia campus is very modern. Facilities include a large library with ample study room, computer labs, and student lounge with wi-fi internet. Campus buildings have air conditioning throughout. The main building has a cafeteria, and the chef can accommodate all special dietary requests (vegetarian, celiac, etc.).
Eastern Mediterranean University
Eastern Mediterranean University was established in 1979 as a higher-education institution of technology for Turkish Cypriots. The total student population is about 13,000, of which 3,000 are foreign students hailing from about 60 different countries. Instruction is done entirely in English.
E.M.U.’s campus is modern, with all necessary facilities including a large library with ample study room, computers, etc.), student lounges, a sports complex (indoor and outdoor), several dormitories (many run by the school and others privately run like hotels), ATMs, a medical center, grocery shops, etc. E.M.U. has its own beach club with pools, a restaurant, and bar on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach on the whole island. You can see pictures of the campus and various facilities on the school website.
All classrooms feature amphitheatre-style seating, with a projector for AV/PC use. Classrooms are not wi-fi accessible in class, but wireless internet is freely available at many locations throughout campus and in the dorms (through a LAN cable). We suggest youit is bring your own extension cords and power strips. The U.K. electric plug is used across the island.
